Spirituality in todays classroom

The Transformational School

The Transformational School
The new evaluation schedule for the Statutory Inspections of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) sets out aspirations for the future direction of church schools in the light of recent developments in what it means to be a church school. Amongst these developments is a growing expectation that church schools will place spirituality more centrally at the heart of their church school ethos.

This course explores what that might mean and how schools, whether community or church, might set about achieving this. This course will look at the contribution that spirituality may make to a child`s well-being and their academic achievement. It will explore the extent to which spirituality can be placed at the centre of the school`s ethos.

It is intended that candidates will come away with a clear understanding of what spirituality means, and how it can be placed at the heart of the school`s ethos and the achievement and welfare of children.
