We are the first-ever Bronze Eco-Diocese in the CofE.

What does that mean? Find out

Eco Church

Bishop Nicholas launched Eco Church in this diocese back in 2016. In July 2021 we have:
136 registered; 51 parishes have awards: 40 currently at bronze, 8 currently at silver & 3 have achieved gold.

This is our main tool to assist parishes in the diocese to care for God's creation.

Eco Church is a nationally developed web-based survey (and agenda for action) and award scheme which looks at a church’s green ‘credentials’ in five areas: Worship and Teaching, Buildings, Land, Community engagement and Lifestyle. It reaches into all areas of church life and assists Christian teaching to be relevant to society but particularly to the younger generation.

You can complete the online survey here and compare your church against the current criteria for a bronze, silver or gold award. See what it takes to reach a higher level!

We have a spreadsheet which can help you with tracking the responses, one version also has DAC advice on where there is help and whether a facility is required. These are available in the left column of this page.
