Safeguarding Workshop for Safeguarding Officers and C1 Trainers
One of the Safeguarding Objectives of the Diocese is to support Parishes in the implementation of effective safeguarding policies and practices (see below). To achieve this it is vital that there is good and regular engagement between the Diocese Safeguarding Management Group (DSMG) and Par-ishes. To this end a workshop, which you may have attended, was held in November 2017. The purpose of this event was to update Parish Safeguarding Reps and Trainers on national and local developments and to listen to the views and experiences of those colleagues without which it would not be possible to achieve our objective.
The DSMG has agreed that we should hold such an event every 6 months and accordingly a Safe-guarding Workshop will be held between 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm on Monday 11 June 2018 at Wilton Community Centre, West Street, Wilton SP2 0DG.
The purpose of this event will again be to give an update to those attending but also to consult on what action we need to take to achieve the objectives which have been agreed by the Diocese Bishops Council.
For your information the objectives are:
· To deliver high quality, effective training that meets the requirements set out by the National Safeguarding Training and Development Practice Guidance (January 2017) in accordance with the Diocesan three year safeguarding training plan.
· To support Parishes in their efforts to implement effective safeguarding and safer recruitment policies and practices.
· To implement a management records system for DBS and training that gives the Diocese and Parishes confidence that all personnel (paid and volunteer) meet the requirements of the Dioc-esan Safeguarding policy.
· To promote a culture in the Diocese where Safeguarding is recognised as integral to providing a safe and caring environment for everyone.
The event is open to all Parish Safeguarding representatives and Trainers. Should you wish to attend I would be grateful if you could book online.
There is limited car parking available at the Community Centre with further parking available in South Street, Wilton and on street parking in the immediate vicinity as well as the Wilton Park and Ride , a 10 minute walk away
