Reading the Bible with People who do not read the Bible
More and more people today have little or no familiarity with the Bible.
More and more people today have little or no familiarity with the Bible.Have you struggled with how to help them understand the Bible’s relevance? This course is for anyone working with individuals and groups who are unfamiliar with the Bible and the various ways it can be read and understood. This day will be spent exploring various reading practices, such as dialogical and contextual methods, for approaching the Bible in fresh, exciting ways. The aim of the day is for participants to add skills to be able to make the Bible accessible and meaningful for those who don’t normally read it.In collaboration with The Centre for Encountering the Bible
Tutor:
Paul Burden is the Centre Coordinator and Director of Contextual Learning. He brings long parish experience to his particular interests in homiletics, mission and leadership. Jayme Reavesis the Exploring Theology Programme Leader and is Coordinator for both the Centre for Encountering the Bible and the Short Course programme at Sarum College. She is a public theologian, with a specialist interest in making the Bible, theology, and theological methods more accessible to the public and helping congregations and communities reflect on the public impact of their theology. She is also an Honorary Fellow at the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education.
