Training for RE leads new to post around teaching Christianity KS1 –KS3 using the Understanding Christianity resource
Understanding Christianity: Text Impact Connections offers an approach to teaching and learning about Christianity, with units and supporting resources from EYFS to Y9.
The training provides an introduction and overview of the resource, including outcomes, teaching approach, classroom ideas and extensive resources.
This resource is for all schools.
Attendees will be familiar with ‘The Understanding Christianity resource’ which will:
• Support RE teaching by considering the place of concepts, creativity, theology and textual learning in RE through exploring inspiring examples of teaching and learning ideas
• develop understanding of how the core concepts of Christianity can be explored in a progressive way through an enquiry approach that engages with Biblical text and helps develop religious and theological literacy.
• set the bar for the quality of teaching and learning about Christianity
• support a school’s preparedness for aspects of the RE focus within Ofsted or SIAMS inspection, including ‘deep dives’
• Develop their own skills as a teacher of RE by using this major new, fully-resourced approach.
