Humour in the Bible

G.K. Chesterton wrote that those who take everything seriously make an idol of everything, and we are often so serious when we read the Bible!
This day is an invitation to uncover and appreciate the comic spirit in the Bible: wordplay, absurdity, hyperbole, satire, subversion, slapstick, and the scatological.

Tutor:
Jayme Reaves is the Exploring Theology Programme Leader and is Coordinator for both the Centre for Encountering the Bible and the Short Course programme at Sarum College. She is a public theologian, with a specialist interest in making the Bible, theology, and theological methods more accessible to the public and helping congregations and communities reflect on the public impact of their theology. She is also an Honorary Fellow at the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education.
