A dialogical, resource focus on the 2021 Gospel of the Year earthing the story in lived experience.Through a selection of narratives from Mark, we will explore the resonances of this ancient context for contemporary life and ministry. The Gospel of Mark is 2021’s Gospel of the Year and this day will dialogical and resource-focused, earthing this story in lived experience – ‘facts of blood and bread’ – by exploring a selection of narratives from Mark and finding where this ancient context has resonances for our contemporary life and ministry. Building on the foundation of different social classes, groups, and demographics presented in the Gospel of Mark, Azariah and Jayme will guide participants through an encounter with the stories and characters of Mark, considering dramatic elements in the narrative around themes such as power, conflict, privilege, and transformation.

Tutor:
Azariah France-Williams is an Anglican priest who frequently contributes to blogs and podcasts. Jayme Reaves is the Centre Coordinator and also Coordinator for the Short Course programme at Sarum College. She is a public theologian, with a specialist interest in making the Bible, theology, and theological methods more accessible to the public and helping congregations and communities reflect on the public impact of their theology. She is also an Honorary Fellow at the Queen’s Foundation for Ecumenical Theological Education.
