Developing RE Subject Knowledge - embedding Understanding Christianity as a teaching and learning approach

Understanding Christianity – embedding the teaching and learning approach

Understanding Christianity – embedding the teaching and learning approach
Following on from the successful training and introduction of the ‘Understanding Christianity’ resource, this training day will focus on two Christian concepts and will introduce the background subject knowledge related to the concept alongside a range of teaching and learning examples.

The intended outcomes are:
Increased confidence in teaching about Christianity in RE and teaching approaches to enable children and students to become more religiously and theologically literate.

Familiarisation with sources of background material to support planning, teaching and learning.

Familiarisation with a range of teaching and learning strategies to enable effective learning in RE.

To gain maximum benefit from this session, someone from your school should have completed the initial Understanding Christianity training that was held in 2016/17 and which provided you with the resource folder. It would be helpful to bring your Understanding Christianity Resource with you to this training.
