In conversation with local magistrates, providing an overview of the role of the magistrate and who they are (volunteers from our own communities). An explanation how the justice system works for those who find themselves facing court, the potential outcomes and how this may impact on their lives. Many of our repeat returners in the judicial system are often on the fringes of society and some do find support from the local church community too, perhaps particularly when they are at their lowest. Having a good understanding of the magistracy and its central role in the judiciary system may be helpful for clergy as they provide pastoral care and outreach.
