Previously St Edwards Poole wrote: Does God forgive everything? Thanks. Great question. Repentance is also important concerning forgiveness and some people refuse to respond to God's offer of free forgiveness for all. So, God does forgive everything for everyone who is open to him.

Previously St Edwards Poole wrote: why doesnt he show himself to everyone and only a few people? Thanks. I think God does show himself to everyone, through the wonders of creation, planting a desire for him in the hearts of all, through our conscience and the good news of Christ has been spread around the whole globe. God restarted with a few - actually with one man, Abraham, and through him - and his family (focused in Jesus) - millions are blessed. God focuses in on a few to expand to all.

Previously St Edwards Poole wrote: hello, what is your view on the sabbath? Hello. Thanks. I love the sabbath because I am so busy I really need a day off. So does God... In the story of creation, after creating humans, God had a rest - he needed to... The Jewish sabbath is Saturday. Christians celebrate God's sabbath on Sunday, since that is the day Jesus rose from the dead. have a look at this poem 'The Pause' http://www.fulcrum-anglican.org.uk/?201

Previously St Edwards Poole wrote: can you explain the main principles in situation ethics? Thanks. Sort of. It depends on your situation - where's the smiley gone? Lost it... Basically, situation ethics focuses not so much on fixed rules and laws, but insists on adapting these to context, sometimes overuling rules - if you see what I mean - by context. I think context is very important in the whole of Christian life, but I also believe that key rules are cross cultural and sometimes counter cultural eg love your enemies is the most counter cultural thing Jesus said. Bonhoeffer, the great German theologian, wrestled with Do not murder, but in the end joined in the plot to assassinate Hitler (which, btw, failed). That could be seen as an example of situation ethics, with which I agree.

Previously Queen Elizabeth’s School in Wimborne wrote: Hello Bishop Graham. Good to see you again this morning. In case we have any technical problems or delays getting going during our Philosophy and Ethics lesson, here are a few of the initial questions that the A level students came up with yesterday: what do you think about current issues in Business Ethics? what would be the key features of a Christian approach to business ethics? what's your opinion on the specific issue of bankers' bonuses? do you believe in the soul? what happens to the body and soul when we die?  do you believe in free will? if so, how does this relate to belief in God's omniscience? More to follow! Richard Foyle, A level teacher.   Thanks, Richard, for passing on these questions. Great to see you in assembly. Now on train... Current issues in Business ethics, for me, focus on the Banking Standards Commission of Parliament. Archbishop Justin is on this, and has been strong on the importance of community responsibility of banks. Personally, I think bonuses have become stratospheric. Key Christian approach would include: everyone, even my competitor, is made in the image of God and deserves respect; love of money is the root of all evil; sharing goods with the poor is good; imaginative creativity in business is part of the image of God. I believe we are 'mind, body and spirit in community' rather than just a soul in a body. See Luke 2:52 where it says, 'Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, in favour with God and people' ie if he grew in mind, body, spirit and community then we are also so called, in this life and eternally. When we die, I believe, we see God and we are raised in a resurrection body.
